Scholarships for Online German Courses at GJU in the Academic Year 2026/27

In the academic year 2026/27, the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS) is offering scholarships for the most meritorious students and/or students from regions of crisis in the programme Pre-Year Engineering Science from funds provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Eligibility
The Call for Applications is open to students from non-EU countries accepted to the Pre-Year Engineering Science at GJU in the academic year 2026/27.
The scholarships are granted for one online German course at the German Language Centre at GJU under the condition that
- the performance of the applicants is above average (based on their higher education entrance qualification, GPA above 80%) OR
- in the case of regions in crisis scholarship applicants, the status of “region in crisis” applies (assessment based on the current security situation with consideration of information provided by the German Federal Foreign Office and/or the WHO list of Humanitarian crises)
- funds provided by DAAD remain available.
Application Phase and Deadline
Students from non-EU countries accepted to the above-mentioned programme can apply for scholarships for German Courses in the academic year 2026/2027, starting from Sunday, 9 August 2026. The deadline for submitting the applications is Wednesday, 30 September 2026, 23:59.
Pre-Requisites and Application Requirements
Applicants must fill in the application form and upload the required application documents using the following link:
Obligatory documents:
- CV
- Copy of Passport (or ID)
- Higher education entrance qualification/Secondary school certificate (including a certified translation if issued in a language other than English, French or German)
- Letter of motivation in English
- For applicants from regions of crisis: A written account of how the situation in the applicant’s region has affected and is affecting their educational path (in English)
Optional documents:
- Proof of social and/or financial need: Documented, in Jordan, through the Social Security Corporation (for parents who are employed), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (for self-employed parents), or an equivalent authority. For applicants from third countries, equivalent documentation verified by the relevant embassy is required.
- Proof of disability, documented by an official certificate or supporting documentation issued by a competent authority or a licensed physician.
The selection process is based on the submitted documents and will be finalized by an independent selection committee. Scholarships will be awarded based primarily on academic merit (GPA) as well as social/humanitarian need (for applicants from regions of crisis/in need). In the event of identical GPAs, the motivation letter (including social aspects) and diversity aspects will serve as secondary selection criteria.
Please kindly note that the described THWS scholarships from funds provided by DAAD can only be awarded if a selected applicant enrols at GJU in the Pre-Year Engineering Science and does not receive another scholarship with the same purpose.
Scholarship Benefits and Financial Support
The scholarship includes a contribution to the course fees of EUR 250 for one online German Language Course at the GLC of GJU.
Appeals Procedure:
After the deadline, the applications will be reviewed by a committee. The initial results are planned to be communicated to the candidates in the week starting from 11 October 2026.
After the announcement of the decision, there will be an appeal phase of 48 hours. Only appeals sent in the mentioned appeal phase to pre-year@thws.de will be considered. Please state your complaint as specifically as possible so that we can work on your request thoroughly and in a timely manner.
