Aidan Özoguz, Vice President of the German Bundestag, visited the German Jordanian University (GJU) to familiarize herself with the university, its programs, achievements, and its role in enhancing bilateral relations between Jordan and Germany.
During her visit, Mrs Özoguz received a briefing from Prof. Reiner Finkeldey, Vice President for International Affairs at the university, and several representatives from faculties and departments. They discussed the university's establishment, its academic system blending theory with practical application following the German model in applied sciences. They also discussed partnerships with German universities and factories that host students during their year in Germany, as well as the university's focus on teaching German language through its German Language Center.
Mrs Özoguz also learned about the Syrian-Jordanian Education Program managed by the university with support from the European Union. This program provides educational opportunities for refugee youth and Jordanian youth in refugee-affected areas to continue their studies and improve their life prospects.
In the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship, Mrs Özoguz met with the deanery team to learn about its establishment aimed at fostering a culture of innovation within the university and local community, and supporting entrepreneurial projects. She also met with a group of students who presented their projects nurtured within the deanery.
At the conclusion of the visit, attended by Florian Reindl, Charge d'Affaires of the German Embassy in the Kingdom, Mrs Özoguz praised the university for its advanced standards and significant role in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
