Recently, the TNB (Transnational Education) Management Meeting was held in Jordan, bringing together key academic leaders and partners from the German–Jordanian higher education cooperation to review current developments and explore future directions of the project.

The meeting was opened by the President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and the Rector of Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and TNB Project Director, Prof. Manuela Schwartz. In their opening remarks, they emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership and the continued development of the GJU model, which integrates academic education with international mobility.

The meeting gathered a wide range of participants, including vice presidents, deans, school representatives, the German Language Center, the International Affairs Department, and key TNB stakeholders. These also included representatives of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the GJU Project Office at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, reflecting the depth and integration of the cooperation network.

The discussions focused on several strategic areas of higher education development, including updates to the Flying Faculty Programme and revisions to the German Year Manual, ensuring alignment with academic development needs and enhancing the quality of the learning experience.

Ruth Pappenhagen, Head of the GJU Project Office, presented an update on the progress of the TNB project, highlighting key achievements and upcoming milestones. She also emphasized the strengthening of networking activities through new initiatives, including the planned “Network Speaker Meeting” scheduled for the autumn, aimed at deepening collaboration and knowledge exchange among partner institutions.

The meeting also addressed the “German Year” as a core element of the GJU study model. Dr. Waed Shakkouri presented findings from her research on the intercultural challenges faced by students during their stay in Germany, covering academic demands, social integration, and intercultural communication, while also highlighting the significant learning and personal development opportunities this experience provides.

The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on enhancing communication and cooperation among partners. Prof. Dr. Manuela Schwartz commended the quality of discussions, noting that such interactive formats significantly strengthen collaboration and improve joint work processes.

Once again, the TNB Management Meeting reaffirmed that the German–Jordanian higher education partnership stands on a solid foundation and continues to evolve as a successful model of transnational education, driven by shared commitment and academic excellence.
