The German Jordanian University (GJU) and Al Qasimia University in the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) remotely to enhance cooperation between the two parties in scientific research, teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, and quality assurance.
The memorandum, signed by GJU President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and on behalf of Al-Qasimia University, its Director, Prof. Awad Al-Khalaf, stipulates that the two parties exchange supervision and discussion of theses, books, periodicals, and scientific research.
Dr. Al-Halhouli praised the pioneering steps taken by Al-Qasimia University in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, and the importance of cooperation between the two leading institutions in this regard, especially as GJU seeks to establish the Arabic Language Center for non-native speakers to serve Arabic language and those willing to learn it, expressing his gratitude to Al Qasimia University for the warm reception he received during his recent visit to the university.
For his part, Prof. Al-Khalaf stressed the role of the MoU in exchanging experiences between the two parties in local and international credits, teaching languages, and the need to implement and expand its provisions through the formation of a follow-up committee for this purpose.
In turn, the Vice Dean of the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL), and the Director of the Library at GJU, Prof. Haytham Thawabih, stated that the two universities agree on two important goals: the first is their endeavor to bridge the gap between Arab culture and other cultures, and the second is to qualify students as ambassadors who can communicate with the other according to the values of tolerance and coexistence.
The signing of the agreement was attended by the Vice President of the University, Prof. Malek Alsharairi, Library Director, Prof. Al-Thawabiya, the Dean of Student Affairs (DSA) and Coordinator of the Arabic Language and Culture Program, Dr. Thelal Oweis, and the Director of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Department (AQAD), Dr. Muhammad Al-Ta’amna. From Al Qasimia University, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Hassan Al-Malakh, the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Salem Al-Jarwan, the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ahlam bin Jarash, the Director of the Office of International Relations, Dr. Zakaria Noah, and the deans of the faculties.
