Amman, February 10, 2026

Under the patronage and in the presence of HRH Princess Rym Ali, Executive Commissioner in the Board of Commissioners of the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC), the Jordan Cinema Academy (JCA) proudly celebrated the graduation of its first promotion of filmmaking students, marking a significant turning point in the development of cinematic education in Jordan. The ceremony, held at Al Balad Theatre, was attended by Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), and Mohannad Al-Bakri, Managing Director of the RFC. The event also welcomed industry professionals and key representatives of Jordan’s cinematic sector.

Established in 2024 as a joint initiative between the RFC and the German Jordanian University, JCA was founded with the mission of nurturing the next generation of Jordanian filmmakers. The curriculum of the JCA has been carefully crafted by a group of Jordanian and Arab experts and the faculty includes professionals from Jordan and the region.

Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of GJU, said that “the graduation of the first intake from the Academy represents a pivotal milestone in building a competitive and globally accessible Jordanian film industry; it is also the fruit of a strategic partnership based on the belief that investing in human capital is the foundation of sustainable cultural development.”

He added that “The German Jordanian University is proud to host this pioneering project, which combines academic education with practice and empowers Jordanian youth with the tools for creativity and impact, both locally and internationally.”

RFC Managing Director, Mohannad Al-Bakri, stressed that “The academy constitutes a national platform for preparing a new generation of filmmakers, capable of expressing their stories and identity in a universal cinematic language.”

Throughout their studies, over a period of 16 months, 12 students received hands-on training across all disciplines of filmmaking - directing, cinematography, screenwriting, sound, editing, and production - through courses led by prominent local and regional experts, which prepared the students to join the professional field with confidence.

Upon completion of the intensive theoretical and practical program, which aimed at educating a new generation of filmmakers in Jordan, fostering talent and contributing to the local and international film industry, the students were awarded a Technical Diploma Certificate in Filmmaking, accredited by the Jordanian Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission.

The academic year of the second intake starts on the 15th of February.
