The Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), in collaboration with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and coinciding with World Mental Health Day, organized an interactive awareness event titled “You’re Not Alone… We’re All With You.”
The activity aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and healthy behaviors among students, as part of the Deanship’s ongoing efforts to promote mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle on campus.
The event featured an awareness booth on the harms of all forms of smoking, including traditional cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and shisha, where the specialized team provided detailed explanations of the negative effects of smoking on both physical and mental health such as: the increased risk of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, the dangers of secondhand smoke on non-smokers on campus, the strong link between smoking and increased stress and anxiety over time. The team also presented healthier alternatives and practical strategies to help students quit smoking, along with tips for building positive habits that support overall well-being.
The event also included a range of interactive games and activities designed to educate students in an engaging and accessible way. Media personality Haitham Al-Baroudi participated by delivering motivational messages highlighting the importance of mental health and adopting a smoke-free lifestyle.
