The School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the German Jordanian University (GJU), in collaboration with the Jordanian National Cybersecurity Center, recently hosted an Informational Session to discuss the Center’s mission, activities, and competitions, particularly those targeting university students in the cybersecurity domain.

During the session, Eng. Bassam Al-Maharma, President of the Jordanian National Cybersecurity Center, provided a comprehensive overview of the Center’s roles. These include safeguarding and monitoring computer networks across various Jordanian institutions, organizing training courses, and hosting cybersecurity competitions. He also outlined future initiatives, such as integrating academic courses into study plans and establishing virtual laboratories for secure cybersecurity experiments.

Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of GJU, emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with the Center. He encouraged students and faculty to leverage the Center’s resources and to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the "German Year " by engaging in specialized cybersecurity courses and training programs. Prof. Al-Halhouli also highlighted the university’s commitment to participating in cybersecurity-related competitions and events, noting the recent GJU 3030 competition, which focused on sustainability and its impact on economic development.

Dr. Ismail Hababa, Head of the Computer Science Department, summarized the department’s focus on cybersecurity and expressed enthusiasm for potential collaborations with the Center. He emphasized the value of such partnerships in enhancing students' technical skills in information security.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Firas Alhawari,, Dean of the Faculty, as well as students from the Computer Engineering Department.
