Under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan, the international conference of “How to Change the World via Science” was launched at the German Jordanian University (GJU), and organized by the Jordanian Club of Humboldt Fellows, in cooperation with the German Jordanian University, Mutah University, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Al al-Bayt University.

In her speech, Princess Sumaya pointed to the importance of the conference topic as the best way to change the world for the better, ensure equal peace for all global citizens and benefit from talent and creativity through science, demonstrating the Royal Scientific Society's endeavor to create positive change through science with a focus on renewable technologies, capacity building, social development, and environmental protection.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research., Prof. Wajih Owais, pointed out the significance of science in bringing about positive changes in human life, which cannot be disregarded due to developments in science and technology, in addition to the importance of natural resources in Jordan and the need to address energy and water challenges.

Owais indicated that the participation of distinguished scientists in various fields of scientific and human sciences at the conference would result in initiating partnerships and future research projects between researchers from Jordan and the rest of the world's researchers.

For his part, the President of the German Jordanian University, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, stressed the importance of establishing partnerships and networking between researchers across borders to serve societies and provide them with the necessary skills to compete internationally in the era of globalization. Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that the university’s vision for 2022 and beyond is based on being a leading applied international university in Education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, a role model in sustainability, and strengthening bridges between Jordan and Germany.

Deputy Head of mission at the German embassy in Amman Dr. Florian Reindel, stated that the conference comes after the Corona pandemic, which confirms the importance of science and scientists in finding solutions to the problems facing humanity, praising the role of the Jordanian Humboldt Club in building a solid scientific partnership between Jordanian and German researchers and the German Humboldt Foundation role in these conferences.

In turn, the conference president, Prof. Marwan Suleiman Mousa, indicated that Jordanian universities are making great efforts to achieve qualitative education that is reflected in the development of scientific research in Jordan, stating that the Jordanian Humboldt Club seeks to open scientific channels for cooperation in various fields of scientific research between Jordan and the world.

Scholars and researchers attended the conference from 24 countries: Germany, America, Romania, Italy, Poland, Greece, Spain, India, Hungary, Serbia, Macedonia, Malaysia, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Egypt, Qatar Oman, Iraq, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, in addition to the host country Jordan.

The conference is the fifth of its kind within a series of conferences organized by the Club in cooperation with the German Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to enhance scientific collaboration between Jordanian researchers and their peers from the participating countries, exchange scientific experiences among the participants, provide the opportunity for researchers to build scientific relationships, and raise the level of scientific research in Jordan.
