A delegation of students from the German Jordanian University (GJU), representing the university’s student clubs and Student Parliament, participated in an academic and cultural exchange visit to Berlin and Brandenburg, Germany, as part of the Study Group Mobility Program, in cooperation with Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal.
The visit was organized by Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, Dean of Student Affairs at GJU, who emphasized the importance of such international activities in broadening students’ perspectives, strengthening intercultural understanding, and connecting academic learning with civic and cultural experiences.
The program included a visit to Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences (TH Brandenburg), where students took part in presentations, discussions, and interactive exchanges that provided them with insights into academic life in Germany and opportunities to exchange experiences. The program also included a tour of Berlin, allowing students to explore the city’s history, landmarks, urban development, and cultural diversity, as well as a visit to the Heinrich Böll Foundation, where discussions focused on democracy, sustainability, political participation, and civic engagement.
The delegation also visited the German Bundestag, providing students with a closer look at Germany’s democratic institutions and parliamentary system. The program further included a visit to BENN Berlin, an initiative focusing on neighborhood engagement, integration, community participation, and approaches to strengthening social cohesion, where students learned about ways to promote community participation and social cohesion.
The participation comes as part of GJU’s efforts to expose its students to international academic and cultural experiences and provide opportunities for exchange and engagement, contributing to mutual understanding and cooperation between Jordan and Germany.
