To consolidate the partnership between the German Jordanian University (GJU) and the Federal „German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses” (Der Mittelstand. BVMW e.V.), the largest German interest group of German SMEs, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Official Meeting of Senate Members and Representatives of foreign offices, held on the Spanish Island Mallorca. The strategic conference was organized by the Federal Economic Senate Committee of the BVMW.

(Michael Lennertz, Industrial Partnership Coordinator, signed for GJU President Dr Ala‘aldeen Al-Halhouli, and Reinhold von Ungern-Sternberg, for BVMW Federal Managing Director of International Politics and Foreign Trade, Andreas Jahn). The BVMW is represented in Jordan by Oliver Gebert.

The MoU upscales and internationalizes the cooperation between the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH), the Jordan Office of the BVMW on campus. BVMW represents the interests of SMEs and is a powerful facilitating network in Germany and Europe. With more than 300 offices in Germany and 85 abroad, the BVMW also represents the interests of more than 900,000 members of the Alliance of SMEs (Mittelstandsallianz).

GJU and BVMW plan to work together in attracting more German companies to engage with the GJU and to supporting German companies with establishing a permanent presence in Jordan and the region.

GJU promotes the development of a full-fledged business science and technology park also serving as a hub for entrepreneurs, start-ups and researchers and interested institutions. (The concept and plan of establishing a “little Germany in Jordan“ is established.)

The corporation will include a two-way relationship promoting employability, business engagement and investment in industry promotion and manufacturing, in compliance with the Royal Initiative Jordan Source of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE). The GJU and BVMW Jordan Representation will strengthen their networks. The BVMW opens its doors to GJU students wishing to intern, study, work and live in Germany. The MoU is also the foundation for a cooperation regarding grants, scholarships and sponsorships.

The corporation promises to become a flagship project in terms of developing stronger and sustainable state-of-the-art academia-industrial relations and cooperation.
