The German Jordanian University (GJU) and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation between the two sides in awareness, community outreach, academic support for sick students, support for cancer patients, and volunteer work.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the university by its President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and on behalf of the Foundation, its Director General, Nisreen Qatamesh.

The MoU stated the implementation of activities to educate students about the importance of fighting cancer, community leadership, and charitable leadership to spread this culture among youth to generate a spirit of innovation and leadership. In addition, the agreement stated holding workshops to introduce students to the Foundation and ways to benefit from its services and support.

Furthermore, volunteering at the Foundation will be identified as one of the areas of community service acknowledged by the university with the coordination of the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) and the Al-Hussein Bracelet volunteer program to establish the German-Jordanian Youth Club against Cancer.

For his part, Dr. Al-Halhouli gave a briefing on the university's mission and leadership strategy to contribute to enhancing the culture of innovation at GJU and society through the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH), which was established for this purpose, in addition to incubating emerging projects.

Additionally, Dr. Al-Halhouli praised the distinguished level of the Foundation and the services it provides in the field of cancer awareness, pointing to the university's readiness for more cooperation in various possible fields.

In her turn, Qatamesh showed the Foundation's aspiration to institutionalize the cancer prevention program at the university, increase the services provided to its employees, and involve young people in the volunteering program, stressing the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.
