Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), participated in the inaugural National Conference titled “Innovation: A Driver of Industry, Investment, and Economy”, organized by The Academia Industry Platform in partnership with Amman Chamber of Industry and the Association of Retired Military Engineers.

During the discussion panel titled “Knowledge-Based Economy”, Prof. Al-Halhouli emphasized that GJU represents a unique model of Jordanian- German partnership, founded on the principle of applied education, which, over the past twenty years, has significantly contributed to strengthening academic and research cooperation between Jordan and Germany, and in producing qualified graduates who meet the needs of the labor market.

He added that the university focuses primarily on human capital, especially Jordanian youth, by investing in their ability to learn additional languages such as English and German, and exposing them to global cultures. This enables them to engage with diverse nationalities and prepares them to become leaders and innovators in their workplaces after graduation. This approach aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and supports the national economy through innovation, technology transfer, and the promotion of entrepreneurship.

Prof. Al-Halhouli also highlighted the Technology, Research and Innovation Park (TRIP), which was inaugurated by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein last November. It serves as an integrated platform to support scientific research, encourage entrepreneurial projects, and strengthen the link between GJU and the industrial sector.

The conference aligns with the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II – may God protect him – to build a national economy based on creativity and innovation, empower youth, and promote entrepreneurship, and implements the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince in supporting employment and the development of the private sector. The conference also featured a showcase of innovations and patentable inventions presented by researchers and innovators from Jordanian universities, in addition to opening effective communication channels between academia, industry, and investors, thus contributing to the marketing of national innovations, enhancing investment opportunities, and supporting sustainable economic growth.
