The German Jordanian University (GJU) participated in the Transnational Education Conference organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Berlin- Germany, with the participation of representatives of German transnational education projects, including binational universities, and representatives from the German Government, politics, and institutions.

During his participation in a panel discussion at the conference, the president of GJU, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, presented the success story of the German Jordanian University, referring to its strategy for the years 2022 and beyond to be internationally recognized as an Applied Science University, to be a leader in education, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, also to stand out as a role model in strengthening the bridges between Germany and Jordan and the world.

Project leader Prof. Anne Lequy (UAS Magdeburg-Stendal) was part of an expert panel on the positioning and perspectives for transnational education. Katrin Bombitzki, Vice Project Coordinator (UAS Magdeburg-Stendal), introduced the compulsory German Year as a unique model that makes GJU graduates well prepared for the local and international market and gives them a ticket to the German labor market.

Vice-President for International Affairs at GJU, Prof. Ralf Roßkopf, elaborated on the demand and impact of German language tuition in Jordan and drew a line to perspectives for skilled labor migration from Jordan to Germany.

The participants in the conference, which was postponed for two years due to the Corona pandemic, praised GJU for its fifteenth anniversary and remarkable achievements. In addition, they admired the German Language Center and its impressive successes in preparing the students, where it has seventy full-time lecturers teaching students the German language.

After the discussions between representatives of binational universities, members of the German parliament, and representatives of their offices, many opportunities for exchange, cooperation, and possible support for the projects and initiatives adopted by the university were reviewed.
