The German Language Center (GLC) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a welcome meeting for new students enrolled in the intensive German language course, with the participation of nearly 1,000 students and the attendance of the Center’s faculty members and Ms. Khalida Radaideh, Coordinator of the Intensive German Language Course for New Students. The meeting aimed to introduce students to the “German Dimension” at GJU, the stages of German language learning, and the requirements of the German Year, while highlighting key academic opportunities and available scholarships.
GLC Director Jacqueline Rogler delivered a presentation on the German language program, outlining the learning stages, B1 level requirements, the GJU-DaF examination, and the German courses preceding the German Year. She emphasized the importance of the B2 track in preparing students for the German Year and benefiting from available opportunities and scholarships. She also provided students with guidance on maintaining their language proficiency through daily practice, focusing on speaking, comprehension, and writing skills, and maintaining regular attendance.
For her part, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department (IAD) Eman Al-Senwar explained the preparations for the German Year, noting that GJU offers its students the opportunity to study at more than 120 partner universities. She added that the department follows up on travel-related procedures and introduces students to available scholarships and programs, including Erasmus and DAAD.
Meanwhile, Sanad Al-Taher, a student in the B2 track, shared his experience in the program and how it contributed to developing his German language skills throughout his university studies. Student Council member Abdulrahman Al-Thabit also introduced students to the Council’s role in representing students and following up on their concerns.
The meeting provided an opportunity for students to ask questions and receive guidance and support.
The event concluded with a screening of a film documenting the experiences of several GJU graduates during their academic year in Germany, highlighting the academic and cultural knowledge they gained, along with their advice to new students.
