The German Jordanian University (GJU), in cooperation with the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC), organized the Scientific Awareness Day of the Jordanian Nuclear Program with the aim of introducing the students to the program, the work of the Atomic Energy Commission, and its various facilities and projects.

Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, Khaled Toukan, the Secretary-General of the Commission, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, the Director General of the Jordan Uranium Company, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shennaq, the President of the University, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, GJU students, academic and administrative staff, participated in the scientific day.

Dr. Al-Halhouli expressed his pride in the Commission's achievements, considering it a  breakthrough with impacts on the level of the Middle East and the future of Jordan, indicating the university's readiness to strengthen the strategic partnership with the Commission through several areas of training, scientific research and the establishment of joint strategic programs.

During the scientific day, Dr. Touqan gave a detailed lecture on the Jordanian nuclear program, during which the attendees interacted with a discussion session to inquire about the program and projects in the Commission. The Secretary-General of the Commission, Dr. Al-Sabbagh, presented a lecture introducing the projects, facilities, and services.

The awareness day was concluded with a lecture on the Jordanian uranium project and the achievements of the Jordan Uranium Mining Company, presented by the director of the Company, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shennaq, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Nayef.

It is noteworthy that the scientific day included an open exhibition of the Commission's facilities, where the attendees were able to interact with the Commission's staff from the Jordanian nuclear reactor for research and training, the Commission's laboratories, the gamma radioactive site, the central warehouse for storing radioactive waste and other projects and services.
