The German Jordanian University (GJU) organized an Open Day as part of the German Week activities, with the participation of all university schools and the student clubs affiliated with the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA), each of which actively contributed by offering a variety of recreational and educational activities and programs. The event was attended by a large number of school students and guests from Jordan and abroad.

The event featured a comprehensive presentation of academic programs and applied student projects. The School of Applied Medical Sciences (SAMS) held a workshop titled “Physiodistrict,” showcasing physical therapy equipment, along with an exhibition of student products from the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering Laboratories, and discussion sessions with alumni.

The School of Nursing (SN) conducted a series of interactive workshops, including hands-on first aid training using simulation tools, free medical checkups, virtual reality experiences simulating nursing scenarios, and mindfulness sessions aimed at stress reduction.

Meanwhile, the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) hosted a “Design Thinking” workshop that focused on creativity tools and the generation of innovative solutions. The School of Applied Technical Sciences (SATS) showcased its laboratories in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, and Industrial Engineering, in addition to graduation project displays and interactive activities organized by student associations such as IEEE and ASHRAE, as well as a campus sports marathon.

The Business School (BS) presented “Shark Tank – Junior Edition,” where students pitched entrepreneurial projects to a panel of expert judges. The activity aimed to sharpen students’ presentation and persuasion skills and encourage innovation in entrepreneurship.

The School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHSS) contributed with a “Storytelling” workshop targeting school students, aiming to enhance their communication skills. The School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT) organized a technical hackathon in collaboration with industry partners, where students competed to develop innovative digital solutions. It also hosted specialized training workshops in Information Technology, and provided opportunities for direct interaction with German experts.

The event also saw wide participation from partner German universities, including Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, Fulda University, Darmstadt University, and Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University, along with supporting institutions such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and GIZ. These collaborations offered visitors valuable insights into the unique German-Jordanian educational environment, the importance of applied learning in academic programs, and available opportunities for exchange and scholarships in Germany.

The Open Day reflects GJU’s commitment to strengthening connections between students, academic institutions, and industry partners, while promoting a model of applied education aligned with the needs of both the local and German labor markets.
