On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Department of Social Work - Master of Social Work Program - Studies of Refugees and Indigents at the German Jordanian University (GJU) in cooperation with the Jordanian Society for Social Work, organized a special lecture on the interventions of social workers with people with disabilities.
The lecture was presented by the social worker Yassin Hodib, who talked about the role of the social worker in working with people with disabilities, touching on many axes, and skills and highlighting on the reality of social work in this field enables the student to get more understanding to the reality of this intervention and how they should prepare them self for it in future.
Hodeib referred to the most important roles played by the social worker, such as the role of the social worker in discovering the case through his professional contact with members of the community in the many locations in which he practices work, receiving the case, meeting with the injured child's family, preparing the preliminary case study, organizing family visits, meeting specialists, and setting the agenda for meetings.
It is worth mentioning that this activity comes within the continuous cooperation between the Department of Social Work and the Jordanian Social Work Association, in order to provide students with all possible ways to enhance their understanding, awareness and practical experience in the various fields of social work.
