The German Jordanian University (GJU) launched today, Sunday, an intensive German pre- course for new students, organized by the German Language Center (GLC), with around 1,000 students taking part. The course is part of the University’s preparations to help students begin their academic journey and become familiar with the German language, which forms an essential part of their university experience.
Running for two weeks, the course aims to provide students with basic German language skills and enable them to use the language in simple situations and conversations through interactive learning methods that emphasize practice and communication. The activities also help students build their first German vocabulary and engage with the language in a stimulating university environment.
The course is delivered by the University’s German-as-a-Foreign-Language instructors through a range of educational and interactive activities that allow students to apply what they learn in practical settings and engage in introductory conversations in German. The activities also include singing and poetry recitation, making language learning an interactive experience from the very first days of university life.
The course marks the beginning of a comprehensive German language learning pathway at GJU, where students take six consecutive German language courses, preparing them for the mandatory year-long study visit to Germany. The visit combines academic study with five months of practical training, giving students the opportunity to apply their linguistic and academic skills in an international educational and professional environment.
The course is part of the University’s preparations to welcome its new students and help them embark on their university life. It also reflects an integral part of GJU’s academic model, which is grounded in applied education and openness to Germany and the world, extending students’ German language learning experience beyond the classroom to opportunities for study, training, and direct engagement with the German environment.
