As part of the "Doing Good, Growing Strong" project, implemented by the German Jordanian University (GJU) in partnership with Brunel University London, the project team led by Dr. Farah Al-Taji, the project's Principal Investigator from Brunel University London, and Dr. Abdelrahman Zuraik, Co-Investigator and Project Manager at GJU organized an environmental journey in collaboration with Eco journey initiative. The field trip aimed to strengthen networking among entrepreneurs, support sustainable businesses, and highlight successful models of local economic development.
The event brought together 34 entrepreneurs who participated in field visits to Bustan Awwad and Besan Beekeeping, alongside hands-on activities, local food tasting, and opportunities to support women-led and home-based businesses. The field trip also provided participants with a platform to exchange experiences and build meaningful professional connections.
At Bustan Awwad, participants explored a community-driven initiative that utilizes the natural and cultural assets of Wadi Al-Seer to promote local development, empower women and home-based producers, and encourage environmental and cultural tourism. They also learned about the Wadi Al-Seer Homemade Food and Products Bazaar, which serves as a platform for women entrepreneurs and local producers to market their products directly to consumers.
The tour also included a visit to Besan Beekeeping, where participants were introduced to the project's approach to agricultural and eco-tourism. They learned about beekeeping and honey production, explored the structure and function of a beehive, and experienced interactive activities. Participants also discovered the apiary's range of natural products and its role in promoting sustainable tourism and supporting local communities.
The event concluded with networking and outdoor training sessions designed to encourage collaboration among participating entrepreneurs, facilitate knowledge exchange, and foster partnerships that contribute to the long-term sustainability and growth of entrepreneurial ventures within local communities.
Appreciation is extended to the project team members—Arch. Dana Al-Lafi, Ms. Ghufran Abudayyeh, Eng. Ali Qattan, and Ms. Shaimaa Zain Al-Din—for their dedicated efforts in organizing and coordinating this event. The team further expresses its gratitude to Mr. Faisal Abu Al-Sundus and Ms. Ibtisam Al-Salamat for their warm hospitality and valuable support, which contributed to the success of the event.
