The German Jordanian University (GJU) received a high-level delegation from the Global University Academy (GUA) initiative, led by the former President of the University of Oslo. During the visit, GJU was officially invited to join the GUA network.

The Global University Academy initiative brings together universities committed to collaborating with local and international partners to expand access to higher education for refugees, displaced learners, and host communities. As part of its mission, the initiative aims to establish innovative educational pathways that support vulnerable populations through flexible and inclusive learning opportunities.

During the meeting, it was announced that the first pilot hub of the Global University Academy is planned to be launched in Jordan, making GJU a key partner in shaping and implementing the project.

GJU Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Ralf Roßkopf, expressed the university’s strong interest in joining the initiative, emphasizing GJU’s long-standing commitment to community engagement and inclusive education. He highlighted that the coming weeks will focus on further exploring areas of collaboration, particularly in the field of Mental Health education, through the Social Work Department at the School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences.

GJU’s potential participation in the initiative aligns with its mission to support regional development, empower vulnerable groups, and foster international cooperation in higher education.
