Senator Nessima Al-Fakhery patronized the official launch ceremony of the Jordanian–German initiative for political education and youth engagement, “NextGen GJU,” held at the German Jordanian University (GJU) under the Deanship of Student Affairs. The event was attended by the University President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, and the initiative supervisor, Ms. Daad Nazzal, in addition to representatives from local and international institutions, as well as a distinguished group of academics, students, and public affairs enthusiasts.

Al- Fakhery emphasized that the initiative represents an important step toward empowering youth and deepening their understanding of political issues. She stressed the importance of preparing an aware generation capable of creating opportunities and actively participating in shaping the future. She also highlighted the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II for youth and women empowerment, as well as the role of universities in fostering political awareness, noting that Jordanian–German cooperation opens broad horizons for knowledge exchange and enhanced youth engagement.

For his part, Prof. Al-Halhouli explained that the initiative marks a qualitative leap in empowering students and developing their intellectual and leadership skills by strengthening their role as partners in knowledge production and societal impact.

In the same context, Prof. Farah Al-Atrash affirmed that the initiative aligns with the Royal directives aimed at enhancing youth participation in public life. She underscored the university’s commitment to translating these directives into practical programs that raise student awareness and expand their engagement, reflecting the strength of Jordanian–German partnerships supporting youth empowerment.

Ms. Daad Nazzal pointed out that the Jordanian–German dimension of the initiative reflects the university’s identity based on openness and international cooperation. It contributes to the exchange of expertise and promotes understanding of democratic models and their application in the local context, emphasizing the role of universities in fostering initiatives that enhance youth awareness and active participation.

This initiative embodies the vision of GJU in promoting a culture of political education among students and enhancing their participation in public life by providing an interactive learning environment that helps build an aware generation capable of dialogue, critical thinking, and active engagement in serving their community locally and globally.
