As part of efforts to strengthen the partnership between the academic and industrial sectors, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the German Jordanian University, received a delegation from Jibreen Group and the Jordanian Chinese Agricultural Co, in the presence of several officials from both sides.
Representing the university at the meeting were Prof. Qasem Abdel Aal, Dean of the School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management (SENRM), Prof. Osama Saadeh, Advisor to the University President, Dr. Fadwa Dababneh, Director of the TRIP Program, and Prof. Sameer Aldahidi. Mr. Mohammad Khresat and Ms. Warda Al-Shami represented Jibreen Group and the Jordanian Chinese Agricultural Co.
During the meeting, Prof. Al-Halhouli emphasized that the university, despite lacking a faculty specialized in agricultural engineering, places technology and its applications at the core of its academic strategy. He noted its national leadership in adopting applied disciplines that add value. He highlighted that the SENRM focuses on optimal use of water resources and renewable energy, while other schools, such as the School of Applied Technical Sciences, contribute to developing fields like robotics and drones and their application in smart agriculture and scientific research.
The university president added that the institution has made significant investments in supporting scientific research aimed at serving local communities, highlighting the recent establishment of the new Applied College. This college offers students advanced, hands-on learning opportunities within just two years, equipping them with specialized skills that meet the needs of the job market.
Prof. Al-Halhouli called for leveraging this partnership to develop joint programs and projects that empower local communities to adopt water-efficient and productive smart farming practices, thereby contributing to positioning Jordan as a regional food basket. He also affirmed the university’s desire to establish a direct strategic collaboration with Jibreen Group and the Jordanian-Chinese Agricultural Company, serving as a successful model of integration between academic institutions and the industrial sector.
For his part, Mr. Mohammad Khresat expressed Jibreen Group’s interest in launching a strategic partnership with the German Jordanian University, aiming to transfer technology from the Chinese company to Jordan through the university. He praised the university’s distinguished reputation and its clear commitment to investing in technological advancement. He explained that the company’s president in China is highly interested in this partnership, especially since the company is located within a Business and Research Complex, underscoring its strong research-oriented focus.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain close coordination in order to expedite the implementation of the joint "Model Greenhouse Project," which will serve as the first outcome of the collaboration between the two parties.
