The President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and the Vice President for Human Resources at the Hikma, Mrs. Majida Al-Labdi, discussed ways to deepen cooperation between the two sides in the field of training and updating university plans in line with the needs of the pharmaceutical industry in Jordan.
The meeting was attended by the Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Ralf Rosskopf, the Dean of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Nidal Al-Shawareh, the Dean of the School of Applied Medical Sciences (SAMS), Dr. Ibrahim Al-Tarawneh, Director of the Office for Industrial Links (OIL) Britta Kähler and Dual Studies Advisor Simone Strasburger. From Hikma, the Vice President for Competencies, Training, and Development, Sami Baramki, Director of Education and Development, Amer Shatnawi.
Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that one of the tasks within the university's strategy is to build strategic partnerships, strengthen relations with local and international industries to support their needs, and focus on identifying projects with a sustainable impact on industry and society.
For his part, Dr. Roskopf pointed to the importance of the German dimension and applied education at the university, indicating the university's distinction in the research field and the university's tendency to shed more light on it through cooperation with the industry, researchers, and experts abroad.
In turn, Dr. Tarawneh drew attention to the School's readiness to cooperate with industry in the field, especially with the launch of the dual studies program at SAMS, the establishment of Innovation Think Tank on campus, in addition, the importance of vital communication to fill in the blanks and re-design the curricula in line with the needs of the industrial sector.
Furthermore, Al-Labdi expressed the readiness of the company, which includes in its facilities many employees from GJU graduates and trains its students, to complete the process of cooperation with the university in various fields, especially in the Dual Studies Program because of its importance in integrating the academic and practical aspects, refining students' skills, and preparing them for the labor market.
