The German Jordanian University (GJU), in cooperation with the Queen Rania Teacher Academy granted six scholarships for a Teacher Education Professional Diploma for the local community of the area surrounding the university from Naour District and Madaba Governorate.
The nine-month scholarships target members of the local community who have a Bachelor's degree moreover, have a desire and passion for the teaching profession and improving the quality of education in Jordan.
The scholarships award ceremony was attended by the President of GJU, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-halhouli, the CEO of the Academy, Dr. Osama Obeidat, Parliament member Firas Al-Ajarmeh, the Mayor of Husban Abdul Karim Al-Ghanim, the Mayor of Madaba Aref Al-Rawajeeh and the Chairman of the Al-Ajarmah Tribes Council, Muhammad Al-Sawaeer.
Dr. Al-Halhouli pointed out that GJU aims to develop a partnership with the local community effectively and sustainably to contribute to community service, indicating that GJU organized several programs for the children of the university community, including the first Children University, the sixth scientific camp for creativity and innovation, and the summer camp.
For his part, Obeidat gave a briefing about the academy programs, praising the university's role in serving the local community and providing valuable opportunities that support the academy's efforts and help develop teachers' skills and knowledge within the classroom.
In turn, Al-Ajarma praised the university's desire to deepen the bonds of cooperation by allocating purposeful and qualitative programs to equip the local community members with new experiences and help them to find job opportunities after graduation.
It is worth mentioning that the Professional Diploma equips teachers for the current challenges in education, preparing educators to treat learning environments as more than mere space, but as the birthplaces of innovation, leadership, intellectual curiosity, and civic participation among youth. The Diploma combines theory and an extensive school practicum for teachers in general pedagogies of teaching and learning and in subject-specific pedagogies to transfer new skills and knowledge gained.
