The German Language Center (GLC) of the German Jordanian University (GJU) officially opened the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year on Thursday, 19 February, during a meeting that brought together the teaching and administrative staff to review the achievements of the past semester and set plans for the upcoming period.

The center recently welcomed 11 new German teachers, marking the largest expansion in its history and bringing the total number of lecturers to over 80 from 16 countries, reflecting the cultural diversity of the educational environment. Nearly 60 percent of the lecturers are graduates of the university’s own German as a Foreign Language program, while approximately one quarter of the team consists of native speakers.

The center welcomed 11 new German instructors, marking the largest expansion in its history, bringing the total number of instructors to more than 80 from 16 countries, reflecting the cultural diversity in the educational work environment. Graduates of the "German as a Foreign Language" program at the university constitute the primary source of teaching staff, while native speakers make up about one quarter of the team.

The Director of GLC, Jacqueline Rogler, emphasized that the center’s activities extend far beyond language instruction, highlighting participation in local initiatives to prepare skilled professionals for the German labor market, contributions to international projects to develop innovative teaching materials, the organization of practical training for prospective teachers, and opportunities for scientific research.

The teaching staff were also honored for their voluntary efforts in developing curricula to keep pace with new academic programs, notably the Bachelor’s program in Nursing, which integrates clinical content from the outset and applies scenario-based methodology to practically prepare students for their professional future.

At the conclusion of the meeting, certificates of appreciation were presented to members of the working groups, recognizing their outstanding efforts, with acknowledgment of all instructors involved in educational and administrative activities, emphasizing the center’s ongoing commitment to maintaining its position as a leading hub for German language education and intercultural communication.
