The German Jordanian University - an official public university - is one of the young Jordanian applied universities that, during its eighteen years of experience, was able to present a unique model of applied education that corresponds to its partners from German applied universities in order to achieve the Royal vision of building an educational system that keeps pace with the leading universities in the world; by graduating a generation of mindful, educated leaders armed with science, knowledge, practical and international experience, and digital and linguistic skills that empower them to pave their way towards the future with confidence, determination, and excellence.
 
In view of the rapid changes in societies and the importance of cooperation and integration, and the urgent need to adapt technology to make the best use of the capabilities of countries to serve humanity and face common environmental, economic and social challenges and the orientation towards achieving sustainable development goals, the university was keen to develop and modernize its programs in a way that guarantees the preservation of the university’s distinction and its graduates, and their uniqueness as it gives all its students the opportunity to spend a year in Germany. The students spend one semester at an applied university before they join a German company for an internship of five months, which enhances the competitive value of the university and supports its efforts towards providing its students with modern skills in communication, digitization, leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation.
 
The university also seeks to encourage its students to establish their own projects. Therefore, it established the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship, which contributes to spreading the culture of leadership and innovation among the students and employees and embracing their pioneering ideas that would create companies and projects which are capable of serving the community, the national economy and reducing unemployment.
 
As part of its endeavor to prepare its graduates for the labor market, especially in Jordan and Germany in particular, the university has developed new academic specializations and new tracks emerging from the need of the global markets for these specializations and the increase of the demand. The most prominent of which is the establishment of the Nursing Sciences Program, which will accept the first cohort of students during the first semester of the academic year 2023/2024. It is expected that it will attract students from Jordan and the region, due to the importance of the program and the urgent need for it in Jordan, the Arab region and Germany in particular. The program focuses on the practical side during the fourth year, which includes an internship in German health institutions and the accompanying professional experience that will reflect positively on the student and society.
 
The university has also moved toward reviewing and updating its academic programs to simulate digital transformation and market requirements, as it has created two tracks at the School of Applied Technical Sciences: Applied Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the Mechatronics Engineering major, and Automotive and E-Mobility track at the Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering major.
 
As for the School of Applied Medical Sciences, in addition to the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering major, two tracks have been established: Biomedical Instrumentation Engineering, and Bionic and Biomechanical Engineering
 
Moreover, the study plans at the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology have also been updated, which include the Fifth Generation and Internet of Things track at the Electrical Engineering major, and Cybersecurity and Data Science at the Computer Science Major, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computer Vision and Robotics at the Computer Engineering major. In addition, A joint specialization in Design and Media Informatic was created with the School of Architecture and Built Environment, which focuses on game programming and virtual reality and metaverse science. As well as the continuous acceptance of the disciplines of Architecture, Interior Architecture, Design and Visual Communication, due to their significance and distinction achievements at the local and global levels.
 
Apart from this at the Business School, students have begun to major in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, in addition to the persistence of the majors in Management Sciences, Logistic Sciences and International Accounting, which was developed by creating a new track in Forensic and Fraud Examination.
 
Furthermore, the university is still taking firm steps in the majors of Energy Engineering with its two tracks: Renewable Energy Engineering and Electric Power Engineering, and in the field of Civil Engineering, where also two tracks have been created: Sustainable Structure and Smart Mobility and Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development. Similarly, in the School of Applied Humanities and Languages, admission continues in the majors of Translation (English - German - Arabic) and German and English for Business and Communication.
 
As for the plans for development and modernization, the university is keen to attract the best scientific expertise to participate in enhancing the university toward future horizons, and it is moving sturdily to provide a distinguished educational environment for its members by transforming into a green, smart and sustainable campus and establishing laboratories and business incubators that mimic the programs offered by German universities. In addition, the university is also interested in Green Hydrogen programs and Social Work Science in cooperation with German partner universities, which will be offered for the first time as hosted bachelor programs by the German Technical University of Applied Science Würzburg-Schweinfurt. These programs will be offered on the campus of the German Jordanian University, starting from the first semester 23/24.
