The German Jordanian University (GJU), represented by the Supportive Services Department / Community Service Division, in partnership with Hesban Sports Club, organized the first five-a-side football championship for the local community, held at the Hesban Municipality Stadium with the participation of 11 teams from various areas of the local community.
The championship was organized as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its community role and foster cooperation and belonging through sports activities. It aimed to promote positive competition and build bridges of communication among youth in an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
The event received strong support from several entities that contributed to its success. Hesban Municipality provided its stadium throughout the tournament, while the Public Security Directorate ensured continuous security presence to maintain order and safety. The Civil Defense Directorate provided an ambulance during all matches, and Hesban Sports Club played a key role in organizing, refereeing, and attracting participating teams.
The matches were held over four weeks, on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays each week, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with strong attendance and great enthusiasm from the local community. The tournament carried the slogan:
“Football unites us… Sportsmanship distinguishes us.”
At the end of the competition, Al-Ittihad Team claimed first place after defeating Shu’lat Ali Team in the final match with a score of 5–3, while Shu’lat Ali came in second, and the German Team took third place.
Mohammad Al-Jbour from Al-Ittihad Team received the Best Player Award, while Abdullah Al-Ajarmeh from the German Team was named Best Goalkeeper.
The tournament concluded with an award ceremony honoring the winning teams and supporting organizations, in a festive atmosphere that reaffirmed GJU’s commitment to continuing initiatives that combine sports, community engagement, and national pride.
