Today, Wednesday, the German Jordanian University (GJU) in collaboration with the Income and Sales Tax Department, launched the Higher Diploma in Taxation program. The event was held under the patronage of Mr. Hussam Abu Ali, Director General of the department, and was attended by the University President, Professor Dr. Alaa Al-Halhouli, along with various experts and stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.

 

This program, the first of its kind in Jordan, marks a significant achievement locally and regionally, offering a unique opportunity for ambitious professionals in the field of taxation to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for success in this dynamic field.

 

The Higher Diploma in Taxation program is a professional and specialized postgraduate program designed in accordance with the latest global trends and applied methodologies, with the consultation and review of international experts. It aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of those interested in taxation from both the public and private sectors, catering to the needs of individuals seeking to advance their careers in taxation, including recent graduates, working professionals, and those specializing in tax law.

 

Prof. Dr. Al-Halhouli highlighted during the event that this program represents a significant step towards enhancing higher education in the fields of taxation and finance, a result of collaborative efforts between the university and the Income and Sales Tax Department.

 

He added that the German Jordanian University believes in the importance of equipping students with the latest knowledge and skills that enable them to excel in their professional fields. Through this program, the university aims to provide distinguished education that aligns with global developments in the field of taxation, contributing to the development of qualified professionals who will help enhance the tax system in Jordan and beyond.

 

Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, emphasized the importance of the Higher Diploma in Taxation program in meeting the needs of the local market and the region by providing tax specialists and contributing to the organization and development of the profession of tax collectors and commissioners, as well as providing tax experts and consultants to companies to enable them to apply tax laws and avoid violations and fines. The program will also contribute to enabling participants to study international practices in tax systems and tax systems in Arab countries.

 

For her part, Ms. Ruba Abu Hussein, Project Management Specialist at USAID, underscored that developing tax competence is a long-term investment for Jordan. A professional tax staff translates into better financial management, resulting in a more sustainable and investor-friendly economy. As a result, Jordanians benefit from increased economic growth and wealth.
