Since its establishment, the German Jordanian University has been distinguished by its applied education model and its unique relationship with the private sector, especially industrial companies in Jordan and Germany. It has proven its ability to develop scientific and practical partnerships at the national and international levels, in addition to being a reliable academic bridge linking Jordan with Germany. The university also provides a modern university environment, including a green campus, modern laboratories and excellent infrastructure.
University graduates are also distinguished by advanced competitive skills that qualify them to enter the era of advanced technology, lead related businesses, and keep pace with the acceleration we are experiencing with confidence and passion.
After about eighteen years of its establishment, the German Jordanian University continues its way by its programs and initiatives that enable it to be a unique destination for its students and partners. These programs and initiatives mainly aim at developing new academic programs capable of providing the national economy with qualified scientific competencies and keeping pace with the requirements of the labor market locally and internationally, with a focus on employment in the German labor market and preparing a generation of entrepreneurs who are able to create job opportunities in their country by establishing their own companies or attracting German companies to the Jordanian market.
In this context, the university has developed dual studies programs in 12th programs that combine academic studies with applied practical knowledge in industrial companies from the first year of enrollment in the university and during the summer semester for the first three years, which enables the student to travel to Germany with nine months practical experience. The student continues with international experience in German companies for a period not exceeding six months, accordingly GJU students graduates from the university with practical experience in both Jordanian and German markets, at least 15 months. Which enhances the students' practical skills and prepares them for a realistic work environment and knowledge of the needs of work sites and makes them familiar and ready to start immediately.
In addition, the Higher Education Council recently approved the establishment of the Nursing School at the university. The establishment of this school comes with the aim of developing high-quality professional nursing competencies capable of providing the best health and nursing care services and meeting the growing needs in this sector at the local, regional and global levels, with a special focus on the needs of the German market.
The university has also established two academic hosted programs in Social Work and Hydrogen Technology Engineering. In these programs, the student studies a preparatory year at the German Jordanian University and then completes his/her studies in Germany to finally obtain a degree from the Applied Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt, which is one of the forefront German technical universities. This initiative aims to prepare leading Jordanian and Arab competencies with experience and knowledge that qualify them to work in the local and international markets, while greatly enhancing job opportunities for graduates in Germany. The graduates of this program will be among the first graduates in the field of hydrogen technology engineering in the region.
The university also expanded in technical disciplines in the field of information technology, focusing on new tracks in computer science and computer engineering, including cyber security, information sciences, artificial intelligence, the Internet of things, and fifth generation technology in communications. A joint program has been developed between the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the School of Architecture and the Built Environment in the field of design and media informatics, in which digital game design skills and the use of virtual and augmented reality technology are integrated in the development of advanced digital applications. In these disciplines, the university offers a unique environment for students in order to enhance their digital skills and obtain professional certificates during their studies from international companies such as (Cisco Systems, Huawei, Red Hat). The university also established the first doctoral program in German language, which aims mainly at graduating qualified researchers with a special ability to deal with the theories of learning and teaching German as a foreign language. This program is jointly implemented with the German Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg.
On the other hand, the university seeks to communicate directly with students and their families in order to attract outstanding Jordanian and international students. Through the establishment of the Open House at the university, students and parents can meet with representatives of schools and academic departments and learn about the study plans and fields of work available for each major. The German Year is also introduced, which our students spend in the fourth year of their studies (a semester at a partner German university, in addition to field training in a German company for a period of 6 months).
The university has also succeeded in achieving an excellent scientific academic reputation within less than 20 years of its establishment, with the presence of a qualified elite of academics and administrators. In this context, the university was distinguished in the field of scientific research in international classifications such as (QS), as it was the first in Jordan in terms of the number of citations for each researcher at the university. As evidence of the university's keenness on direct and effective interaction between students and faculty members, the university also ranked first among Jordanian universities in terms of the ratio of students to faculty members. The university was also ranked second in terms of the number of international faculty members. The university is honored that more than 13 majors have obtained German accreditation, which makes university programs similar in content and quality to programs offered by German universities themselves.
The university also implements various programs to enhance community service through specialized training programs for local community members and their children that qualify them for the labor market, such as the program organized by the university with the Orange Digital Club hosted by the university, as well as the Jordanian-Syrian Education Program, Children’s University (Little Professor), innovation camps, and training programs offered by the Consultation and Training Center in different Professional Fields. The university implements a large number of locally and internationally funded projects that seek to support capacity building for the local community and graduates from the university and other universities in Jordan.
The university is a beacon for science and knowledge in a way that builds bridges between cultures, especially the Jordanian Arab culture and the German culture. The university works continuously with its partners in Germany, Jordan and around the world to support the aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein for an advanced education based on knowledge, analysis and innovation that leads to achieving the goals of sustainable development in Jordan and strengthening government efforts to develop economic and professional opportunities for Jordanians
