Under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Taher Shakhshir, the German Jordanian University (GJU) celebrated the graduation of the second cohort of students from the "My Right to Learn" initiative. This event, held at the university's Jabal Amman campus, involved several local public schools, including Abdaliya Basic School, Arwa Bint Al Harith School, Bilal Bin Rabah School, and Shukri Shashaa School.
In his address, Mr. Shakhshir commended GJU for its leadership in this initiative, which aims to enhance both the academic and behavioral development of participating students. He highlighted the importance of acquiring skills and languages that broaden students' opportunities and expressed his hope for the initiative's expansion across Jordan's governorates. Mr. Shakhshir also reiterated his support for the program due to its positive impact on future generations.
Prof. Malek Alsharairi, Vice President of the University, emphasized the initiative's significance in nurturing future leaders and contributing to community development. He noted that the program is conducted during the summer vacation as part of the university's local community outreach, including the summer club "The Little Professor" at the main campus in Al-Mashqar.
Mr. Abdul Hakim Arabiyat, the initiative's supervisor, outlined the GJU’s mission through the program, which aligns with its goals of community development and generational empowerment. The initiative provides students with skills in various areas, including computer science, digitization, language learning (Arabic, English, and German), drawing, communication, health safety, law enforcement, and the arts. Students also gain knowledge of national and historical contexts through field trips to landmarks such as the Martyr's Memorial, the Tank Museum, and the Zaha Cultural Center.
Arabiyat concluded by thanking the initiative’s sponsors, including the Jordanian Armed Forces/Arab Army, the Public Security Directorate, GJU’s Road Safety Center of Excellence, the Arabic Potash Company, the International Chocolate Manufacturing Company, the Zaha Cultural Center, and the university students who contributed significantly to the initiative’s success. He also acknowledged the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah.
