The German Jordanian University (GJU), represented by its International Affairs Department, organized a farewell ceremony for students departing to Germany as part of the "German Year" Program for the Winter Semester 2026/2027. The event was attended by the Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ralf Rosskopf, Ms. Nadia Shqeir, representing the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Amman, as well as a number of academic and administrative staff members and students participating in the program.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ralf Rosskopf emphasized that the German Year experience is one of the cornerstones of GJU's educational philosophy, offering students exceptional opportunities to gain academic and professional experience while engaging with new cultures and working environments. He reaffirmed the University's commitment to supporting and guiding its students throughout every stage of this international journey. Encouraging students to embrace the experience with confidence and responsibility, he invited them to rediscover themselves and continue developing their skills, noting that "every beginning holds a magic force that helps us live and grow."
Ms. Nadia Shqeir, representing the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Amman, congratulated the students on reaching this important milestone. She highlighted that studying and training in Germany is a comprehensive experience that extends far beyond the classroom, fostering personal growth, independence, and the opportunity to gain valuable international experience while proudly representing both their country and their University.
In a recorded video message presented during the ceremony, Dr. Jochen Bleins, President of the German Jordanian Friendship Society (DFG) and former Dean and Professor at GJU, congratulated the students on embarking on their journey to Germany. He praised the German Year Program for broadening students' academic and cultural horizons and for strengthening the ties of cooperation and exchange between Jordan and Germany. He also reaffirmed the Society's commitment to continuing its support for GJU students throughout their educational journey.
The ceremony also featured a special session during which returning German Year students shared their academic and personal experiences, reflecting on the knowledge, skills, and professional insights they gained during their time in Germany, as well as the challenges they encountered and the lessons they learned along the way.
The event concluded with a presentation by the International Affairs Department outlining the travel and residency procedures, in addition to the University's support services and follow-up mechanisms available to students throughout their stay in Germany.
The farewell ceremony reflects GJU's continued commitment to strengthening the international dimension of its educational mission by providing students with distinctive opportunities that combine academic study with practical training, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and global perspective needed to succeed in both the local and international labor markets.
