The President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), Prof. Manar Fayyad, participated in the inauguration of the new regional office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which was held at the University of Jordan (UJ).
The inauguration was attended by the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Muhammad Abu Qadis, the German Ambassador to Jordan, Bernhard Kampmann, the President of the University of Jordan, Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Qudah, Presidents of Yarmouk Universities, Science and Technology, and academics from Jordan and abroad.
During the panel discussion, which dealt with the challenges and prospects of cooperation in the field of German-Jordanian and regional higher education: challenges and perspectives, Fayyad indicated that the German-Jordanian University contributed to the deepening of bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the field of higher education, until it became a success.
She added that the university was founded on the model of applied German universities, which combines the theoretical and practical aspects to graduate a generation of professional engineers and leading administrators in specializations needed by the local, regional and international labor markets, indicating that the university was able to build strong partnerships with German universities, factories, and companies to receive GJU students during the fourth academic year, where the students spend two semesters, the first of which is academic and the second is practical.
Fayyad expressed her appreciation to the DAAD for its continued support for the university. Also the support of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, the German Embassy in Amman, the German Agency for International Cooperation, the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to partners in Jordan and Germany.
During the ceremony, the participants emphasized the fruitful cooperation with the German side in the higher education sector and scientific research and its role in supporting the Jordanian higher education strategy through many projects presented by the institution.
It is noteworthy that the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the largest international organization, supports the exchange of scholars and researchers to more than 6.2 million academics around the world and contributes to the rapprochement of human beings.
