Prof. Nizar Abu Jaber, Director of The Center for the Study of Natural and Cultural Heritage (CSNACH) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), and Mr. Hassan Al-Rahibeh, Mayor of Um El-Jimal, recently convened to explore potential collaborations following the site's recent inclusion on the World Heritage List.
During their meeting, Prof. Abu Jaber and Mayor Al-Rahibeh discussed various cooperative projects, including initiatives focused on water harvesting and flood control. They also considered the possibility of organizing workshops on World Heritage sites and providing training for workers in heritage-related fields.
Additionally, the two parties explored the prospect of involving university students in research and development projects related to the Um El-Jimal site. This initiative aims to deepen students' understanding of cultural and natural heritage and offer them opportunities to contribute to the site's preservation and development in alignment with World Heritage standards.
