The School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHSS) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a field visit for Master’s students in Social Work – Migration and Refugees track – to a community center in the city of Salt. The visit was part of applied educational activities aimed at strengthening practical learning and connecting theoretical concepts with professional practice in the field of social work.
The visit aimed to familiarize students with the programs and services provided by the center to various segments of the community, as well as the community initiatives it implements to promote social protection and empower beneficiaries. The visit also included a meeting with a group of Social Work students from Al-Balqa Applied University, with the goal of exchanging experiences and enhancing academic and field-based dialogue among students.
Participating students expressed their appreciation for this field experience, emphasizing that it provided an important opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of real-life social challenges and contributed to strengthening concepts of empowerment, advocacy, and community participation through practical application in the field.
The visit concluded with a tour of the old city of Salt, adding a cultural and humanitarian dimension to the experience and fostering greater communication and interaction among participants.
This visit comes within the framework of the GJU’s efforts to strengthen the practical dimension of academic education, expand students’ field experiences, and build academic and community partnerships that contribute to preparing qualified professionals capable of addressing contemporary social challenges efficiently and professionally.
