The Board of Directors of the Jordanian Universities Network held its extraordinary meeting at the German Jordanian University (GJU) on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Alaldeen Al-Halhouli, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and President of GJU, and attended by Prof. Natheer Obeidat, Vice Chairman of the Board, and Prof. Salameh Al-Naimat, Board Member.

Also participating in the meeting were members of the Board’s, including university presidents and representatives from Al-Balqa Applied University, The Hashemite University, Al al-Bayt University, Yarmouk University, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Tafila Technical University, in addition to Prof. Saleh Al-Sharaeh, Executive Director of the Universities Network.

Prof. Al-Halhouli opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and reviewing the services provided by the Jordanian Universities Network Company to both public and private universities. He emphasized the importance of developing these services, particularly in the areas of cybersecurity and new services such as High Performance Computing (HPC).

The attendees affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation with the European Research and Education Network (GEANT) through the EUMED Plus Project, and connecting universities to the Medusa Network, a high capacity cable system linking educational institutions across North Africa and the Middle East. This network is expected to meet the data transmission needs of universities for the next twenty-five years, contributing to keeping pace with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which requires high data transmission speeds and advanced computational and storage capabilities.
