The Cabinet has approved the Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship System at the German Jordanian University (GJU) for 2024, in alignment with the amendments to the Jordanian Universities Law No. (18) of 2018 and the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund System No. (107) of 2018.

During a press conference following the Cabinet session held in Zarqa Governorate, Minister of Government Communication and government spokesperson, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, announced the decision. He stated that the system aims to promote a culture of innovation in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, making it an integral part of the university's activities and strategies. This initiative aligns with the GJU’s vision to enhance scientific research and support entrepreneurship and innovation locally and internationally.

The university’s President, Prof. Dr. Aladdin Al-Halhouli, highlighted that the German Jordanian University is the first institution to implement this system and approach. In 2021, the university established the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship, the first of its kind in this field.

Prof. Dr. Al-Halhouli emphasized that the Deanship leverages its unique resources to enhance the university’s reputation as a model for German universities of applied sciences. It also ensures the employability of its graduates, aligning with His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein’s vision in the Seventh Discussion Paper on human development and education. His Majesty stated, “We aspire for a strong Jordan that offers its people the best education, enabling them to face life’s challenges, establish successful businesses, and engage in valuable professions.”

In celebration of the university’s 20th anniversary, Prof. Dr. Al-Halhouli noted that His Majesty King Abdullah II recently inaugurated the "Technology, Research, and Innovation Complex" at the university. The complex aims to strengthen the university’s leadership in technology and research, contribute to the Kingdom's scientific advancement, and support economic growth.

He also highlighted that the university recently received the “Outstanding Contribution to Entrepreneurship” award at the Times Higher Education Arab World Awards for 2024. This prestigious regional award recognizes academic institutions excelling in entrepreneurship and launching pioneering initiatives that contribute to sustainable development.

Prof. Dr. Al-Halhouli reaffirmed the German Jordanian University’s commitment to maintaining its leading role in the region by actively contributing to innovation and providing exceptional solutions to contemporary challenges. This commitment ensures that GJU remains a model institution at both local and global levels.
