Biography

Dr. Feras Al-Hawari is a Professor of Computer Engineering and Director of the Digital Transformation Office (DTO) at German Jordanian University (GJU). He served as Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT), now the School of Computing (SC), from 2021 to 2025. He also directed the University Digitalization Project (UDP) for three years and the Information Systems and Technology Center (ISTC) for ten years. In addition, he founded and currently leads the university’s software development group. Dr. Al-Hawari led and participated in the analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of several enterprise systems at the university, including the Student Information System (MyGJU), E-Banking service, accounting system, financial system, human resources and payroll system, help desk system, supplies system, and online examination system. He also managed and contributed to the university’s transition to fully online instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the area of IT infrastructure, he directed and participated in the specification and implementation of numerous university-wide projects, including smart classrooms, the university intranet and network infrastructure, IP camera and surveillance systems, data center infrastructure (servers, storage, cabinets, and layout), video conferencing systems, information display systems, and the university website. Prior to joining GJU, Dr. Al-Hawari worked at Cadence Design Systems in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, USA, from 1995 to 2012. He served as a Senior Member of the Consulting Staff and Technical Lead for circuit simulation and signal integrity analysis technologies within the Allegro Printed Circuit Board (PCB) SI R&D Group. His work focused on developing efficient and accurate methods for modeling and simulating S-parameter black boxes, multi-conductor transmission lines, and IBIS devices. He also architected the bus analysis flow used for the design and verification of source-synchronous memory interfaces such as DDR3. Dr. Al-Hawari holds seven U.S. patents and has authored several publications. He also serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technologies.
