Biography

Dr. Ortrun Hanna has been an assistant professor at the School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHSS) at the German Jordanian University since September 2024. She has many years of experience in teaching German as a foreign language and in the master's training of GFL teachers and has headed corresponding institutions in Germany and abroad. In 1999, she completed her doctorate in linguistics at the University of Dortmund, specialising in university communication in mechanical engineering. Among other things, she was a research assistant at the University of Dortmund, a GFL teacher at the Studienkolleg of the Ökumenisches Studienwerk in Bochum (ÖSW), a DAAD lecturer at the Universities of Helwan (Egypt) and Ain Shams (Egypt), Director of the Language and Cultural Centre of the German University in Cairo (GUC), Head of the GFL Department and the Language Centre of the TU Braunschweig and Dean of the School of Languages at the German Jordanian University in Jordan. She specialises in linguistic pragmatics, technical and academic language as well as didactics and methodology of German as a foreign language.
