The German Jordanian University (GJU) and the Hashemite University (HU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership to enhance joint academic, research, and training activities, in line with both universities’ aspirations for leadership and educational excellence.
The MoU was signed by the President of the German Jordanian University, Professor Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and the President of the Hashemite University, Professor Khaled Al-Hayari. It stipulates the activation of exchange programs for academic and research staff, as well as undergraduate and graduate students, with the aim of enriching the academic experience and providing diverse educational environments that foster the skills of students and faculty members alike.
In the research domain, the MoU emphasizes institutionalizing cooperation in research activities, including the preparation and publication of joint scientific research, as well as the implementation of collaborative research projects and applied studies that address contemporary challenges and contribute practical solutions benefiting society and the industrial sector.
The agreement also includes coordinating efforts in organizing academic and scientific events, such as conferences, forums, specialized seminars, and training courses. In addition, it provides for cooperation in developing joint academic programs and courses, with a particular focus on short-term specialized programs in technical education, e-learning, and the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship concepts.
Professor Al-Halhouli stated that the German Jordanian University seeks to serve as a unique model in applied education oriented toward the needs of the industrial sector. He emphasized the university’s commitment to implementing the MoU and strengthening cooperation with the Hashemite University in academic, research, and training fields, as well as participation in joint conferences and seminars.
He noted that this partnership is expected to enhance the standing of both universities through the exchange of distinguished expertise, contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and reinforce academic excellence. He also highlighted GJU’s advanced practical training experience, its strong ties with the Jordanian industrial sector, and its effective partnerships with German industry, which collectively support an educational model that bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application.
For his part, Professor Al-Hayari affirmed that this cooperation with the German Jordanian University represents an important step toward greater integration among higher education institutions and the establishment of a multi-dimensional partnership in research, scientific, and educational fields. He particularly emphasized the formation of joint research groups in collaboration with the industrial sector to support its development and address the challenges it faces.
He commended the level of scientific research at both universities, noting its growing activity and its significant contribution to supporting various national sectors and institutions.
Professor Al-Hayari also underscored the importance of cooperation in evaluating graduate theses and participating in examination committees, as well as implementing specialized programs to develop faculty members’ competencies and skills. Such initiatives, he noted, would enhance academic performance and the quality of higher education. He expressed his aspiration for establishing an institutional framework for cooperation among Jordanian universities to strengthen coordination, foster integration, and support their role in serving society and national development.
Concluding his remarks, Professor Al-Hayari expressed his pride in this partnership, affirming that it represents added value supporting the university’s vision of providing high-quality education that serves both the academic and national communities. He stressed the importance of sustaining and strengthening this cooperation, particularly through allocating funding for joint research teams and projects.
