The German Jordanian University (GJU), Yarmouk University, and the Cities and Villages Development Bank (CVDB) signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of scientific research, applied education, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The MoU seeks to support sustainable development goals, bridge knowledge gaps, keep pace with rapid advancements in modern technologies, and respond to evolving business models, services, and innovative products.
The MoU was signed by the President of the German Jordanian University, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli; the President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Malek A. Alsharaari; and the Director General of the Cities and Villages Development Bank, Dr. Wasim Al-Haddad.
The agreement outlines cooperation in attracting local and international projects and developing joint proposals in academic, scientific, research, and training fields. It also includes collaboration in innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship, with the aim of promoting a culture of innovation and startups, enhancing mechanisms for knowledge and technology transfer, and exploring cooperation in business incubators, capacity building, and the development of creative ideas in technical, professional, and academic domains.
In addition, the MoU covers cooperation in providing specialized consultancy services, implementing training programs inside and outside the Kingdom, exchanging expertise in the design and evaluation of training programs, and studying opportunities to train students enrolled in the Dual Studies track.
Commenting on the signing, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli emphasized that the MoU aligns with GJU’s vision of strengthening applied education and linking the outcomes of scientific research and innovation to the real needs of the market and society. He noted that the University will contribute its expertise in technological entrepreneurship and skills development, ensuring the qualification and empowerment of Jordanian youth to actively participate in sustainable development initiatives and support a knowledge- and innovation-based national economy.
For his part, Prof. Malek A. Alsharaari affirmed Yarmouk University’s commitment to mobilizing its full scientific and research capacities to ensure the success of this partnership. He highlighted that the MoU facilitates the transfer of knowledge from the academic framework to practical application, generating a direct positive impact on local communities, and reaffirmed the University’s dedication to supporting research projects that address developmental challenges and enhance community capabilities.
In turn, Dr. Wasim Al-Haddad stressed that the MoU represents a vital bridge linking academic institutions with municipalities and local communities. He underscored the Bank’s commitment to providing the necessary support to transform entrepreneurial and innovative ideas into tangible development projects that contribute to improving the quality of life across all governorates of the Kingdom.
