As part of its efforts to enhance community engagement and attract outstanding students, the School of Nursing (SN) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) conducted an introductory visit to Al-Salt Secondary School for Boys on Thursday, April 17, 2025. The visiting delegation was headed by Dean of SN, Dr. Mayada Daibes, and included Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaatreh, Vice Dean, and Dr. Hedaya Hina, Head of Student Activities, along with nursing students Abdulrahman Heshmeh and Ammar Al-Asouli.

This visit came as part of the awareness efforts made by SN to introduce high school students to the educational opportunities available at the university in general, and the Bachelor of Nursing program in particular, especially in light of the increasing demand for the nursing profession in both local and international job markets.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Salt Secondary School, known as the “Mother of Schools,” is considered the most prestigious educational institution in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, having been established as the first official school in the country. It was awarded the Order of Independence, First Class, in recognition of its historic and national role and has produced, over the decades, many prominent figures who have held high-ranking ministerial and military positions.

The visit featured a rich program that began with a speech by the school principal, Mr. Mohammad Al-Kharabsheh, in which he emphasized the importance of students learning about the various disciplines offered by different universities, to help them make informed decisions about their future studies after high school. The Dean of SN then delivered a speech highlighting the foundation of GJU and its various faculties, with a special focus on the establishment and significance of SN in meeting the needs of the healthcare system.

Following this, Vice Dean Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaatreh spoke about the key features of the Bachelor of Nursing program and introduced the concept of the "German Year", one of the university’s most notable features, in addition to the international partnerships that provide students with outstanding training opportunities.

Dr. Hedaya Hina then discussed the academic and professional development prospects for graduates of SN, emphasizing the importance of scientific and practical competence in building a successful future in this humanitarian field.

Students Abdulrahman Heshmeh and Ammar Al-Asouli shared their personal experiences studying nursing, spoke about why they chose the field, their aspirations regarding the German Year and beyond, and offered real-life advice to the school’s students to help them choose the most suitable university major.

The visit concluded with an interactive discussion session where members of the delegation answered students’ questions and inquiries about university life and the future of the nursing profession. This was followed by a training presentation by nursing students on Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills and German language conversation skills, which received positive engagement and admiration from the attendees.

This visit reflects the School of Nursing’s commitment at the German Jordanian University to supporting students and empowering them to make informed educational decisions, in addition to its pioneering role in promoting the nursing profession as a promising academic and career path.
