The German Jordanian University (GJU), Brunel University London, and the Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF) have officially launched the policy report titled “Social and Solidarity Economy in Jordan 2025/2026” during a dedicated release event in January 2026.

The event was attended by H.E. Nesreen Barakat, CEO of JSF, who highlighted the importance of expanding Jordan’s economic discourse beyond the traditional public–private sector framework and recognizing the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) as a key pillar for inclusive growth, social stability, and decent work opportunities across the Kingdom.

The report reflects research conducted through the Doing Good, Growing Strong project (https://shorturl.at/ok8LW). Dr. Farah Al-Taji, Principal Investigator, discussed the conceptual foundations of SSE, its relevance to the Jordanian context, and the evidence base underpinning the study. Dr. Abdelrahman Zuraik, Co-Investigator, presented the report’s outcomes, proposed policy framework, and recommendations to strengthen and institutionalize SSE in Jordan.

The study provides a comprehensive overview of Jordan’s social impact ecosystem, combining qualitative research with a quantitative mapping of over 300 social impact entities. It offers a locally grounded definition of SSE and proposes a phased national policy framework emphasizing cross-sector collaboration, sustainable financing, institutional clarity, and integration of SSE principles into national development strategies.

The launch, coordinated by Arch. Dana Al-Lafi through GJU’s Social Entrepreneurship Hub, was attended by representatives from COSV, Impact Jordan, and members of the Doing Good Community, reflecting the collaborative momentum of Jordan’s SSE landscape.

This policy report represents a significant step toward evidence-based policymaking for social impact in Jordan, reinforcing the role of SSE as a strategic driver for inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development.
