The Institute of Public Administration launched today, Saturday, the first edition of the Professional Diploma in Public Policy and Administration, as an advanced step toward building the capabilities of public sector employees and enhancing their skills.

Minister of State for Public Sector Development, Eng. Badriah Al-Belbeisi, during her patronage of the ceremony, stated that the launch of the Professional Diploma in Public Policy and Administration is a significant milestone in the path of public administration reform in Jordan, and a practical step toward instilling a professional character in government work.

She added that the modernization approach aims to establish a sustainable direction based on continuous development and improvement—not as a temporary response, but as a core component of government performance, proactive challenge readiness, and effective service delivery to meet evolving expectations.

On her part, Director General of the Institute, Eng. Siham Al-Khawaldeh, said that the professional diploma, which spans 500 hours, aims to equip Jordan's public administration with employees capable of designing, implementing, and evaluating public policies, proposing solutions to challenges in public sector reform, and applying a whole-of-government approach in carrying out their duties.

She explained that to ensure targeting the right participants, initial eligibility criteria were established, followed by a series of tests and interviews conducted by various committees to ensure governance, transparency, and fairness. A total of 50 participants were selected from 29 entities, with a gender distribution of 42% male and 58% female.

Meanwhile, President of the German Jordanian University, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, said: “The university is shifting today from focusing solely on bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs to emphasizing practical, applied programs that combine theoretical and practical aspects of both the public and private sectors. These programs aim to equip professionals with essential concepts and apply them in the workplace, creating a qualitative leap in empowering and developing their skills and encouraging creativity and innovation.”

He added that the university has dedicated a Training Consulting Center (TCC), a Deanship of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH), a Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR), and a Department of International Relations (), out of a keenness to deepen relations with stakeholders and build bridges of trust.

It is worth noting that the Professional Diploma is implemented as part of the Public Administration Reform Project in Jordan, funded by Italian Cooperation, and executed by the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), the German Jordanian University, and the Public Sector Modernization Roadmap Implementation Unit at the Prime Ministry.
