The German Jordanian University (GJU), through its German Language Center, participated in the 16th German Language Teachers’ Day in Jordan, organized by the Goethe-Institut – Jordan in collaboration with the university, under the theme: “Teaching German Today,” with broad participation from language and education experts from prestigious international universities and institutions.
The program included opening remarks by GJU President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, the Director of the Goethe-Institut in Amman, and the Director of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Jordan, emphasizing the importance of enhancing teachers’ competencies and developing language education according to the best global practices.
They highlighted that the event serves as an interactive professional platform for exchanging experiences, building collaborative networks, and exploring the future of German language teaching in the region amid rapid digital transformations.
The program featured a keynote lecture on the role of artificial intelligence and extended reality technologies in language teaching and their impact on empowering teachers and enhancing teaching practices. Additionally, a series of parallel hands-on workshops addressed the latest topics related to teaching German as a foreign language, including the use of digital tools in education, skills-based learning, education for sustainable development, and AI applications in lesson design and classroom interaction.
GJU’s participation reflects its leading role in supporting German language and cultural education in Jordan and strengthening academic partnerships with specialized German institutions. This contributes to developing teachers’ competencies and raising the quality of language education according to the latest international standards, especially as GJU hosts the largest German language center in the world.
The event is organized in collaboration with several specialized German educational publishers and features participation from leading international educational institutions. Registration for the training workshops remains open, subject to the capacity limits of each workshop.
