As part of my teaching at GJU, I had the opportunity to do a month-long internship at IIK-Düsseldorf (Institut für Interkulturelle Kommunikation) in September 2023. Within this month I taught the level A1.2 in German as a foreign language. My target group was international Master and PhD students participating in DAAD programs within their scholarships. This teaching activity at IIK has opened for me a new working perspective, especially how to give classes in the hybrid form. I have acquired new techniques and methods in teaching with such developed learning tools, especially when my students are synchronously in different spaces (zoomies and roomies). At the beginning, it was a challenge for me to reconcile these two types. But over time, everything was fine. I also developed my subcultural skills by working with both local colleagues and international students. The work dynamics at IIK taught me a lot, especially the German work mentality and how to effectively optimize my appearance as a teacher. This priceless experience helped me definitely to expand my knowledge in the field of German as a foreign language and especially develop my media skills which I aim to use it with my GJU students.
