The German Jordanian University (GJU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) to implement the Higher Education for Innovation and Growth (HEIG) initiative, aimed at enhancing the performance of higher education institutions and strengthening their partnerships with the private sector, funded by the U.S. Government.
The MoU was signed on behalf of GJU by Prof. Dr. Alaa’ Al-Din Halhouli, President of the University, and on behalf of IREX by Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Country Director in Jordan, marking the start of the collaboration effective November 10, 2025.
The agreement seeks to support GJU’s efforts to improve its core functions, enhance institutional efficiency, align its educational outcomes with labor market needs, establish the Collaborative Industrial Cluster in Medical Manufacturing (C3), and actively participate in the HEI Peer Network of Jordanian partner universities.
Under the agreement, GJU will collaborate with the initiative’s implementing partners, including Virginia Tech University and the Association of Business and Professional Women, to execute institutional performance development plans, capacity-building programs, and institutional assessments.
This collaboration aligns with GJU’s vision to promote applied education, innovation, and entrepreneurship, reinforcing its position as a national partner in supporting competitiveness and sustainable development in Jordan.
